Power Failure

http://www.newsweek.com/id/225529

This article includes basic examples and reasons as to why global warming is happening as well as reasons why politicans are not rushing forward to help with the global climate change crisis. It also details what it really means to go green as a country and why politicians are not doing this.

Politicans are just that. They need to be reelected in order to have power and in order to make that difference that they try ot convince us will happen. I agree with some of the authors views that because politicians are making the decisions drastic measures-the drastic measures we need to take-won't be taken. For example Obama has hired world renowned scientists to work on this problem but has done little more than that. Something I really enjoyed about this article was that it didnt delve to much into the global crisis and start using jargon that is difficult for average people to understand. It gave us an excellent summary of what global climate change is and why it is a problem. However it does use some scare tactics and overgeneralization that may not be true. Over all it is an excellent article because it explains the climate crisis briefly and then goes into the problem with politics and climate change.

  1. I found this article to be somewhat biased but it still brought up some important points. A major issue for people and politicians alike is that we have to see in order to believe. Yes the arctic is melting, the CO2 levels are rising and global warming is on the way but, we visually never see this. And for that matter, we do not believe that it is actually happening. Until the effects become visual and deathly and we are effected personally, no one is going to want to do anything about it. This needs to change.
