Feds changing Hawaii swordfish fishery regulations

Endangered species , now slightly becoming even more endangered. ! The federal government is now allowing the longline swordfish to be prey to humans again. Seeing as it was once not allowed because of the loggerhead sea turtles that might be caught in the process. But they are saying that up to 46 can be caught "accidentally" . Once the percentage goes from 17 back to 16 the restrictions will be back in affect.

  1. Species that are no longer featured as endangered is a big accomplishment, meaning that through means such as reintroduction and captive breeding, we have successfully reinstated their populations. This, however, can easily change. I think that species taken off the endangered or threatened species list should still have careful monitoring for years to come before they are allowed to be hunted or captured outside of scientific research.
