E.U. Leaders Play Catch-Up on Climate Strategy

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/10/world/europe/10iht-union.html?ref=earth
This article is about how the E.U. is still deciding what their cambon emissions should be reduced by. While they are the most environmental active group of countries, it still looks a bit unsure. This is bad because it is so close to Copenhagen. The E.U. is still decidng on if they should cut emissions by 30 percent or 20 percent, and they are trying to figure out how to get the United States and China to cut their emissions too.

I think this article is sort of troubling because the E.U. is still arguing about environmental issues and they are the leaders in it. this shows us how much controversy there is in the topics. I think they need to hurry up and decide on stuff like the carbon emission cuts. Some disputes are also being caused by the United States and China. A lot of the european nations are arguing over how to get China and the United States involved. I think The U.S. needs to take more agressive pursuits in envronmental issues so we can no longer be looked down upon as one of the countries that is oblivious to these issues.

  1. I agree with Darre. The faster the EU decides how much to cut CO2 emissions, the more time they will have to decide how to. I also think that the US should be more on the ball with environmental issues because it will most likely be good for our economy in the long run and it will help the Earth.
